On September 7, 2018, Eric Conn (also known as Mr. Social Security) received an additional 15 years for his fleeing to Honduras after pleading guilty to defrauding the government out of over $500 Million of social security benefits. He now is sentenced to 27 years in prison and should serve a minimum of 22 years.
In addition to the half a billion dollars that he defrauded the government, there are now thousands of former clients that lost benefits which they may or may not been entitled to. Many of these former clients are now destitute with some having committed suicide.
Conn did not do this crime on his own. He had the assistance of a federal magistrate and a doctor. Conn is hinted there may be others.
