The Art of Negotiation - Part 2 A Special CLE Webinar from Alta Pro

Free CLE Webinar for Lawyers – The Art of Negotiation Part 2 (1CLE) 1 PM EST 11/17/2025

About the presentation

In the inaugural webinar of the three-part series, esteemed attorneys Colleen Byers and Frank Laney presented an in-depth analysis of the defining characteristics of successful negotiators. Join them for the third webinar of the series, titled “The Art of Effective Negotiation – Part 2.”

Successful negotiators cultivate several pivotal habits to enhance the probability of consistently achieving mutually beneficial agreements. These habits encompass:

1. Preparation: Prior to a negotiation, seasoned negotiators meticulously contemplate their desired outcomes. Without a clear objective, it becomes challenging to establish a course of action. In this webinar, we will outline the keys to preparing properly.

2. Building Trust and Rapport: Trust is paramount in every negotiation. Its construction requires significant effort and time, while its destruction can occur swiftly. In this webinar, we will explore the components of trust: authenticity, rigorous logical reasoning, and empathy.

3. Managing Emotions – Yours and Theirs: Recent research has debunked the notion that emotions have no role in negotiations. Contrary to this belief, the “things that people care about – not merely outcomes, but also respect, power, and identity – are all intrinsically linked to strong emotions.” Colleen and Frank will delve into this pivotal finding during the webinar.

In almost all cases, given that our webinars are always approved in the above 14 CLE states, lawyers who are licensed in any other US state will also be able to receive credit for attending our webinars. Certain states, known as reciprocal states, will simply accept the approval from any of the above states, as if the program was approved in their state (i.e., AZ, CA, CT, FL, NJ, NY among others). Other states require that the lawyer submit an application for approval. While we do not apply in every state, our CLE coordinator will assist any attendee with the application process.
