DESCRIPTION
This presentation will discuss accident reconstruction and introduce techniques that are less known and sometimes misunderstood. Types of useful data and results achievable from accident reconstruction are presented, as well as the performance of vehicle components. The presentation will contrast the meaning of the terms "failure," "broken," and "defect." The failure analysis of various vehicle parts is explored, with emphasis on techniques and determination of sequence-of-events.Two examples demonstrate how accident reconstruction ("how they crash") and failure analysis ("how they break") complement each other to fully explain the cause of an event.
