Risk Management for Tax Preparers
Moderator:
Catherine Putman, CPCU, Underwriting Director, Travelers
Speakers:
Bethany P. Minich, Partner, Litchfield Cavo
H. Kent Twining, Partner, Litchfield Cavo
Lisa Wall, Claim Executive, Travelers
Accountants and accounting firms face risk when providing any type of accounting service, but the focus of this webinar is on risks associated with tax preparation services. It is important for accountants to know what exposures exist at the outset of a tax preparation engagement as well as during the engagement, and have a risk management plan in place to mitigate those exposures. Through the discussion of claim scenarios, our expert panelists will provide insights into specific exposures related to tax preparation services and discuss the important role that engagement letters play in a firm’s overall risk management plan and in defending a claim, should one arise. The panelists will also discuss other risk management tools and techniques that should be a part of every accounting firm’s risk management plan.
