The objective of the course is to give participants an appreciation of the practice environment and what services give rise to professional liability claims. The course provides practical guidance on managing the key sources of exposure in an accounting practice, from the selection of a client base to the collection of engagement fees Specific attention is paid to empowering firms to take control of the risks inherent in their practices.
After completing this course you will be able to recall, identify and/or determine:
· The areas of your practice generating the greatest risk of loss
· the risk of new engagements and disengagements
· effective means of safely collecting fees, without the risk of generating a client dissatisfaction dispute
· the important components of a file retention policy, and how to establish a policy to fit your firm's needs
